Edwards and Snowmass

Teddy and I checked out the new Edwards bowl on Thursday. It might be difficult to see in this picture, but the waterfall has a hump on one side. This makes for one very large waterfall, and things get real fast and scary in the deep. Click for larger size.

We also skated the new Snowmass park, twice. It's got three main areas: A big bowl with a deep square side, a backyard-type snowman-shaped bowl, and a flow area with a few interesting walls. The coping in the two bowls is Tedder stone, like the stuff in the shallow at Bennett.

This picture of the larger bowl doesn't do it justice. The deep end is very deep with a generous amount of vertical wall. And with the squared corners, it's fast. Click for larger size.

Grindline In Edwards!

Freedom Skate Park Addition

The Skate Park in Edwards is receiving an upgrade to its existing amenities.  70 feet in length and 50 feet wide, the addition includes a 16 ft. high "cradle".  Rick Cook, a local real estate agent who was instrumental in the first skate park, spent more than a year to secure funding for the addition.  Contributors include:  Berry Creek and Edwards Metropolitan Districts, WECMRD and Eagle County - $40,000 each; Arrowhead Metropolitan District and Edwards Rotary - $5,000 each and private party donations totalling $6,000.

Construction began in April and the project's completion is expected in early June.  Eagle County's Road & Bridge Department re-located a storm water utility line to make way for the improvements.  Pete Fralick, P.E., is Eagle County Engineering Department's project engineer overseeing construction activities by Grindline Skateparks, Inc.
